CS Academy
CS Academy, Coimbatore is a co-educational K-12 school located at the foothills of the Western Ghats on the outskirts of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
The school offers both the CBSE and Cambridge curricula and has around 2,900 students, including 200 in boarding.
CS Academy is named after Shri C. Subramaniam, a legendary Indian freedom fighter, politician, and recipient of India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.
At CS Academy, the focus is on delivering practical education that will help our children succeed in the real world. We emphasize communication skills, critical thinking, building a healthy competitive spirit, teamwork, and leadership.

Mr. Sony Thomas (Cambridge)
(Cambridge Head) Mr Sony Thomas is a distinguished educator with an impressive academic background. He holds an MA in Economics and Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in education. With more than 20 years of teaching experience – including a year of training as an educational instructor in the Indian Airforce – he has made significant contributions to the field.
He has produced over 3 World Topper and guided several students to become Country Toppers. He has more than a decade of experience teaching the Cambridge curriculum and is a Cambridge Assessments Specialist.
His career has taken him around the world, working in the Maldives and Qatar. He is fluent in English, Hindi and Malayalam and has basic proficiency in Tamil, Telugu and German.
Beyond academics, he actively promotes the comprehensive development of students, emphasising social and emotional well-being.
Mr Thomas is a proponent of spirituality, Indian culture, and family values – beliefs he considers essential for students to embrace.
Ms. Smitha Baburaj (CBSE)
With over 20 years of experience in academic leadership, Ms. Smitha Baburaj is the Head of School, CBSE Stream at CS Academy. She is a dynamic educational leader with over a decade of experience shaping student success and institutional growth. Over the past 10 years, she has overseen the remarkable expansion of the senior secondary programme—from a modest batch of 34 students to over 300 students today across Grades 11 and 12.
Under her leadership, the CBSE stream has broadened its academic offerings to include a wide range of subjects and skill-based learning opportunities, ensuring that every learner finds a pathway that suits their aspirations.
Equally passionate about holistic development, Ms. Smitha underscores the importance of sports in building discipline, engagement, and resilience among students. She attributes the school’s strength to three key pillars: uncompromising academic standards, a distinctive teaching style, and the integration of sports as a core part of student life.
