Dr. Rebecca Wood
Head of School
Dr. Wood began her 21-year tenure at Fairmont teaching middle and high school English. She also served as English Department Chair before assuming the post of Dean of Advanced Studies at the Prep. Dr. Wood has a deep commitment to International Baccalaureate. She taught IB at the Prep and served as the IB Coordinator for many years. She has also helped coordinate and lead IB training for Fairmont International School (FIS) teachers in Beijing and Taipei.
In 2011, she joined FIS as its Director of International Education. There, she supported teaching and learning at FIS partner schools across Asia and helped build robust K-12 programs that balance the best of American education in a global context.
Throughout her time at FIS, Dr. Wood continued to work closely with many educators at our Orange County campuses, including our Kindergarten Advisory Committee, Fairmont Prep’s Academic Advisory, campus administrators (including Mrs. Lugo and Mrs. Thomas), and Jill Thomas, our on-staff Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
She is not only a Fairmont alumna herself, but also the proud stepmom of a Historic Anaheim alumnus who recently graduated from Princeton University. Dr. Wood holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MA and Doctorate from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
